I O mint mark. ;Emission Sequence :Obverse: [[1880-O VAM-6A,[[1880-O VAM-49, [[1880-O VAM-6D, [[1880-O VAM-6C :Reverse: '''Comments:''' # The "8/7 Ear" variety with "Hangnail" reverse. This is an amazingly tough VAM to locate and is considered the key overdate in the series. It has small "ear" mark on the top left of the 8 from an underlying 7. This mark is similar, but not the same as, [[1880-O VAM-6 & [[1880-O VAM-6A. # The Reverse is the same die as [[1880-O VAM-48 with the tailfeather gouge. Recently reclassified as [[1880-O VAM-49, this is the former 1880-O VAM-6B. # In the winter 2006 “Top 100 Insights” population analysis, Michael S. Fey, Ph.D., reported 5 mint state coins and 59 circulated coins and advised collectors to “Ultra Rare in XF or better,” a sentiment I strongly support. # Comes with gouge at bottom of R of AMERICA and without gouge.
