=1879-S VAM-151A Doubled Cap Top, Clashed st= Discovery 2010. Renumbered December 2023, former VAM 1D 151A III2 83 ∙ C3a (Doubled Cap Top, Clashed st) (183) Obverse III2 83 – Top of Phrygian cap slightly doubled. Long, curved line through lower hair from clashed upper edge of eagle's left wing. Clashed die with partial incuse st of 'trust' showing in hair vee. Reverse C3a – Die Markers - Lines in wing-neck gap, in and around wreath bow. ;Emission Sequence :Obverse: 37, 37A, 37B, 151A, 151 :Reverse: 151A, 151, 97, 91, 80-S VAM 67 Comments: # 'st' clash from 'Trust' on reverse showing in lower right hair vee with no other die clash marks showing on reverse, which is unusual - must have been polished off Obverse & Reverse dies since there are polishing lines in fields. # Same exact reverse as VAM 91 and 1879-S VAM-97. # The VAM 37 family does not have the "die gouge" that the VAM 151 has (see Photo labeled "Die Gouge" below). # Brent got his wish, and the unclashed version is now VAM 151. It appears that the clashed version is the earlier die stage.
