Description
=1878-P VAM-146 Line in E, R, Y= Discovered by Leroy Van Allen, December 1965. This coin is a Top 30 1878 Variety 146 II2 - B2j (Line in E, R, Y) (194) Obverse II2- Point of star 4 right broken. Slight doubling of right side of 7. Diagonal die gouge through bottom of E, two through top of R, and one through middle of Y in LIBERTY. Slightly doubled profile on lips, chin and upper neck. Reverse B2j- Middle of eagle's wing overpolished. Open o in God. Engraved wing feather betwen right wing and leg appears as vertical bar in the opening. DPIS – In 1878 dates were part of the master die so there is no variation in position. ;Emission Sequence :Obverse: :Reverse: Comments: # Significant gouges can be seen in the ER of LIBERTY. LDS is lightly clashed, but there is no letter transfer.
