Description
This undated silvered copper token, cataloged as TC-93753, depicts Mount Rainier, the iconic 14,411-foot stratovolcano that dominates the skyline of western Washington state. Mount Rainier is the highest peak in the Cascade Range and one of the most recognizable natural landmarks in the Pacific Northwest. This souvenir token captures the mountain's distinctive ice-clad profile in miniature metallic form. The silvered copper composition β copper with a thin silver wash β gives the token an attractive bright appearance while remaining inexpensive to produce. Mount Rainier souvenir items have been produced since the late nineteenth century, when the mountain became a popular destination following the establishment of Mount Rainier National Park in 1899, the fifth national park in the United States.
