Description
This undated bronze medal of Andrew Jackson is part of the U.S. Mint's standard presidential medal series produced for public sale. The 34mm format features a bust of the seventh president on the obverse, adapted from the original Furst portrait that has defined Jackson's numismatic image since the early 1830s. The reverse carries the Peace and Friendship design with clasped hands beneath crossed tomahawk and peace pipe. Jackson remains one of the most consequential and controversial presidents in American history. A military hero celebrated for his victory at the Battle of New Orleans in 1815, he rode a wave of populist democratic enthusiasm to the presidency in 1828. His two terms were marked by the destruction of the Second Bank of the United States, the Nullification Crisis with South Carolina, the Indian Removal Act, and the establishment of the Democratic Party as a modern political organization. The undated bronze presidential medal captures Jackson in the dignified style characteristic of the Peace and Friendship series, presenting the controversial president in the same diplomatic framework as his predecessors and successors. The absence of a date follows the Mint's standard practice for this series, which was designed to honor each president's service rather than mark a specific year. This medal is part of the complete set of presidential bronze medals that the Mint has offered to collectors for decades, making it possible to assemble a visual gallery of all American presidents in a uniform medallic format.
