(No Date) Civil War Store Card F-700C-5b, RH
Strike TypeCoin Details
Description
Civil War store card from the Fuld 700C-5b series, attributed to the unidentified issuer "RH." Part of the extensive Fuld 700 "RH" series, one of the largest groups of unattributed Civil War store cards. With over 100 cataloged varieties across multiple die combinations and metals, the volume of production indicates "RH" was a die sinker, distributor, or jobber who supplied tokens in bulk. The brass composition produced a distinctive warm golden tone. Brass was sourced primarily from the Waterbury, Connecticut mills that supplied many Northern token manufacturers. This undated piece was produced circa 1862-1864 during the wartime coin shortage. Collectors classify Civil War tokens by the Fuld numbering system, which catalogs each unique die combination. Rarity ratings range from R-1 (over 5,000 known) to R-10 (unique).
Rarity Notes
Brass strikings are among the more available metal variants, though typically less common than copper. With 19 cataloged varieties, RH was a notable token issuer.
