This bronze medal at 56mm diameter, produced circa 1970, is a modern restrike depicting Daniel Morgan at the Battle of Cowpens, one of the most tactically brilliant American victories in the Revolutionary War. On January 17, 1781, Brigadier General Daniel Morgan defeated a force of British regulars under Lieutenant Colonel Banastre Tarleton in South Carolina, using a carefully planned double envelopment that exploited the varying capabilities of his militia and Continental troops.
