Description

This circa 1960s bronze medal cataloged as FH-125 features Theodore Roosevelt, the twenty-sixth president and one of the most dynamic figures in American political history. Roosevelt's outsized personality, reformist agenda, and conservation legacy make him among the most popular presidential subjects in medallic art. The FH-125 bronze version captures the distinctive Roosevelt features — the prominent teeth, pince-nez glasses, and thick mustache — that made him one of the most caricatured and recognizable presidents. Roosevelt assumed the presidency upon William McKinley's assassination in 1901 and won election in his own right in 1904. His accomplishments include trust-busting, the Pure Food and Drug Act, establishment of the national park and forest system, and construction of the Panama Canal. His personal connection to numismatic history is profound — he personally recruited Augustus Saint-Gaudens to redesign American coinage in 1907, resulting in what many consider the most beautiful coins ever produced by the United States Mint. The Fuld-Higby bronze version of the Roosevelt presidential medal allows collectors to own a portrait of the president whose passion for artistic excellence transformed American coinage. The rich bronze surface provides an appropriate medium for a subject who championed beauty in public art.

Rarity Notes

Standard Fuld-Higby bronze issue. Roosevelt medals enjoy stronger collector demand than most presidential subjects due to his numismatic significance.
