(c.1872-86) Token TC-18998 Brass Dunlap & Florer OK Trade
Strike TypeCoin Details
Description
This brass trade token, cataloged as TC-18998, was issued by Dunlap & Florer, a mercantile firm operating in Oklahoma Territory during the 1870s and 1880s. Trade tokens were issued by merchants, sutlers, and company stores throughout the American frontier to serve as local currency in areas where federal coinage was scarce. The "OK Trade" inscription identifies this as valid for merchandise exchange at the issuing establishment. Oklahoma Territory during this period was Indian Territory, and trade tokens circulated among settlers, soldiers, and Native Americans in the commercial exchanges that characterized frontier economic life. The brass composition was durable enough for repeated handling in trade, and the TC catalog number places this within the standard trade token reference system used by collectors of American merchant tokens.
Rarity Notes
