Description

This circa 1867 white metal medal, cataloged as JAB-29, is the white metal version of Bolen's Daniel Webster portrait. White metal provided an economical bright-metal alternative to silver, giving collectors a silvery-appearing Webster medal at a fraction of the silver version's cost. The white metal JAB-29 completes the trio of bright and warm metal options for this design — brass for golden tones, white metal for silver appearance, and actual silver for premium collecting. Bolen's systematic production in multiple metals created a collecting framework that encouraged completists to pursue every composition variant of each numbered medal. The Webster portrait in white metal offers the most affordable entry point into this popular design within the Bolen series while maintaining the quality engraving that characterizes all of Bolen's work.

Rarity Notes

JAB-29, white metal. Most affordable bright-metal version. Scarcer than copper but less expensive than silver.
