Description

Doubling shows in the windows in the arch above the center doorway. It shows in the third and fourth windows from the left in the bottom row and in the third and fourth windows from the left in the second row from the bottom. Die Markers: Obverse Stage A: Die chip left of the designer's initials JF with a die crack through the initials. Hub defect in the upper opening of the first R in QUARTER, this is known on multiple dies. NW/SE die scratches above the Y in LIBERTY. Short NE/SW die scratches below the ear. Short NW/SE die scratch inside the G in GOD. Die gouge in the lower opening of the E in LIBERTY. Multiple die gouges right and below of the first L in DOLLAR. Die gouge left of the top of the I in AMERICA. Die gouge touches the top inside of the C in AMERICA. Obverse Stage B: Stage A die scratches above the Y and in the G as well as the gouges right of the first L and left of the I are abraded away. All other Stage A markers still present. Large die chip on the bust above the D in DOLLAR. Die gouge left of the D in DOLLAR. Reverse Stage A: Short E/W die scratches right of the guard tower. Short NW/SE die scratches in the right side of the second doorway. Die gouge at the bottom of the second doorway. Reverse Stage B: Stage A markers weak but still present. Short die crack extends NE from the lower right corner of the building to the right building. A second die gouge below the second doorway. Die gouge right of the O in FORT. Die gouge right of the R in FORT.
