Description
Doubling shows below the right side of the upper grass strip between the great egret and the great blue heron. Die Markers: Obverse Stage A: Thin die crack through the designer's initials JF. Thin die scratch between the I and C in AMERICA. Very thin curved E/W die scratch below the Y in LIBERTY. Weak die scratch near the rim below the T in QUARTER. Obverse Stage B: Die chip developed on the die crack right of the designer's initials. Other Stage A die markers likely abraded away. Reverse Stage A: Thin die scratches below the heron's neck feathers. Reverse Stage B: Stage A die marker may or may not be present. A die chip can be found under the eye of the great blue heron.
