Description

An extra tip of the saddle horn protrudes from the upper right side of the saddle horn. Die Markers: Obverse Stage A: Die chip at the front tip of the bust. Multiple small die gouges above the U in QUARTER. Two die gouges right of the first T in STATES. Multiple small die gouges around the top of the E in STATES. Obverse Stage B: Stage A gouges may or may not be present. A die crack runs through the upper designer’s initials. A small die chip can be found on the upper left J of JL. A die chip can be found between the W and C of WC. Obverse Stage C: A new obverse die has been paired with the reverse doubled die. Two die gouges can be found NE of the R in QUARTER. A small die gouge can be found just above the A in QUARTER. A light die crack runs across the base of the bust and the west into the field. Reverse Stage A: Die gouge right of the top of the L in PLURIBUS. Reverse Stage B: Stage A gouge may or may not be present. A pre-die chip depression can be found above the left side of the cowboy’s hat. A long pre-die break depression runs down the left side of the horse’s tail. Reverse Stage C: A short, vertical die gouge can be found above the E in EPU. The pre-die chip depression above the hat is deeper with a small die chip in the depression. A long die break runs down the left side of the horse’s tail.
