Description
Moderate fluting line extension, into the stylobate, under columns 10 and 11. Moderate step deviation is seen under columns 5 through 8, with an offset direction of 170 degrees. Also seen are faint trail lines from the bottom of the letters in UNUM. There is not that much difference in line intensity between the two stages; however, there are added die makers that do separate the two. STAGE “B”, TOP STAGE “C”, BOTTOM STAGE “B” STAGE “C” STAGE “B” STAGE “C”
Die Markers
- Stage “B”, obverse is MDS – die gouge under the T and R of TRUST. Die gouge under the E of WE
- Reverse is MDS – die crack on the top of column 4.
- Stage “C”, obverse is LDS – die crack in Lincoln’s forehead.
- Reverse is LDS – die chips in column1, 2 and the top of 3. Die crack in column 1 and the cornice over bay 3.
