Description
Strong multiple fluting line extension, into the stylobate, under columns 3, 10, 11 and 12. Strong step deviation is seen under columns 5, 6, 7 and 8. The trails is also carried over into the designer’s initials, although a bit faintly. Surprisingly, a second set of trails is also found on this die. Faint trail lines are seen from the E, the L and S of PLURIBUS and the first U and M of UNUM. There is also a trail line seen on the top of the left URN. The offset direction of the second set of trails is 060 degrees. DIE MAKERS: Stage “C”, obverse is LDS – none observed. Reverse is LDS – die gouge in the U of UNITED. Die dots to the right of the right cornice edge and on the right side of the I in AMERICA.
