1997P-1DEO-005T Trail Die Obverse

Description

This is a dual directional trail die. The first set has an offset direction of 160 degrees with trail lines from the N of IN and the GD of GOD. Also seen are trail lines from the RTY of LIBERTY. The next set of trail lines is the reciprocal of the first set and is 320 degrees. These lines can be seen on the Y of LIBERTY, the 1 of the date and the RUS of TRUST. The trail lines are not to be confused with die deterioration lines seen from the letters on IN GOD and indicated by black arrows.

Die Markers

• Stage “D “, obverse is VLDS – none noted.
• Reverse is VLDS – die clashes are seen in bays 4 and 10. It is obvious that the obverse die was changed out early in the mating of this pair of dies since the obverse die shows no signs of abrading.
