Description

This 1996 medal from the Western Reserve Numismatic Club is a counterstamped piece applied to a host 1922 Peace silver dollar. The 1922 Peace dollar was the first year of standard-relief production, following the switch from the original 1921 high-relief design that had proven difficult for the Mint to produce in volume. The 1922 date is the highest-mintage year of the Peace dollar series, with Philadelphia alone producing over fifty-one million pieces, making it the most common and affordable entry point for Peace dollar collectors.
