Coin Details
Description
This bronze medal by Medallic Art Company commemorates the inauguration of Ronald Reagan as president in January 1981. This bronze version represents the standard accessible format in MACO's multi-metal Reagan inaugural series, produced alongside silver, gilt bronze, copper, and gold versions. The bronze composition allowed the broadest public participation in commemorating Reagan's historic inauguration, which marked the beginning of the conservative revolution that would reshape American politics. Reagan's inaugural address promised "an era of national renewal" and set the optimistic tone that would characterize his presidency. The bronze medal is distinct from the gilt bronze version (PCGS #937665) in having the natural bronze finish without gold wash. Medallic Art Company's bronze inaugural medals were the foundation of their presidential medal program, produced in the largest quantities of any composition and serving as the entry point for collectors building complete inaugural medal sets. The Reagan bronze inaugural medal remains readily obtainable compared to the silver and gold versions.
