Description
This 1977 Franklin Mint platinum medal at 10mm commemorates the inauguration of President Jimmy Carter — the most exclusive version of the Carter inauguration medal series. At just 10 millimeters in diameter, this miniature platinum medal represents the pinnacle of rarity and exclusivity in the Franklin Mint's inauguration program. Platinum was the most expensive metal available for medallic production, and its use at miniature scale created a piece that was both precious and diminutive. The Ford inauguration platinum miniature (PCGS #918422) established the precedent continued with this Carter version, forming a mini-series of platinum inaugural miniatures. These tiny platinum medals were produced in quantities of fewer than a hundred, making them among the rarest items in the entire Franklin Mint catalog.
