Description
S/S North Die Markers: Obverse: The obverse is a doubled die listed in the Wexler Doubled Die Files as 1971-S 5¢ Pr WDDO-015. An extremely close spread toward the rim shows on the designer’s initials FS, the date, the star, and LIBERTY. Die scratches on rim above RTY of LIBERTY; die scratches on rim above WE. Reverse: The reverse is a doubled die listed in the Wexler Doubled Die Files as 1971-S 5¢ Pr WDDR-014. A spread toward the center shows on E PLURIBUS UNUM, decreasing from left to right. Doubling also shows on STATES OF AMERICA and ELLO of MONTICELLO, as well as on the right side of the building, increasing from left to right. Very slight doubling shows on the left side of the building. Several die scratches parallel to rim through and above upper portions of NUM of UNUM.
