Description
Obverse: Die Markers: Obverse: The obverse is a doubled die listed in the Wexler Doubled Die Files as 1971-S 5¢ Pr WDDO-002. A nice CCW spread from a pivot at approximately 2:00 shows on IN GOD WE TRUST. Doubling also shows on the designer’s initials. Extremely slight doubling shows on the date and the star. A die gouge (dot) can be found midway between the D of GOD and the W of WE. A die gouge (dot) can be found between the legs of the R of LIBERTY. Reverse: The reverse is a doubled die listed in the Wexler Doubled Die Files as 1971-S 5¢ Pr WDDR-002. A spread towards the rim shows on UNITED STATES OF AMERICA increasing from left to right. Doubling also shows on FIVE CENTS and MONTICELLO with a uniform spread, and on the right side of the building. Very slight doubling shows on E PLURIBUS UNUM. A diagonal die scratch can be found to the right of the long right window and two diagonal die scratches can be found inside the long right window.
