Description

Class II, Distorted Hub DoublingA spread toward the center shows on UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, FIVE CENTS, and CELLO of MONTICELLO, increasing from left to right.  The doubling on UNITED STATES and FIVE also shows a close CW spread from a pivot at about K-1.  A nice spread toward the center also shows on the right side of the building.  An extremely close spread can be detected on most letters of E PLURIBUS UNUM at 3ox. Die Markers: Obverse: The obverse is a doubled die listed as 1971-S Pr 5c WDDO-017. Reverse: Die gouge (dot) between upper portions of E and D of UNITED; die gouge (dot) inside D of UNITED; die gouge (dot) just above E of AMERICA and another further above R of AMERICA; strong die dot on edge of rim between E and R of AMERICA.
