1967 Medal C. Weiser Coin Club Silver 35mm Medallic Art Co., NY
Strike TypeCoin Details
Description
This 35mm silver medal produced in 1967 by Medallic Art Company of New York is the premium silver version of the C. Weiser Coin Club medal, companion to the bronze edition. The silver composition elevates this club medal above the standard bronze issue, produced in very small quantities for club officers, honored members, or as prize pieces at club events. Local coin club silver medals are among the scarcest items in American medal collecting, as the combination of tiny production runs and limited distribution means very few examples survive outside the original recipients' collections. The C. Weiser Coin Club, named after the prominent colonial Pennsylvania figure, represents the regional character of organized numismatics in the mid-twentieth century, when hundreds of local clubs across the country provided regular meeting places for collectors to share knowledge, trade coins, and enjoy fellowship. Medallic Art Company's production of a silver version alongside the bronze demonstrates that even small club commissions could include premium offerings.
