1946-S Doubled Die Reverse WDDR-007
Error
Description
A strong spread toward the center shows on AMERICA, UNUM, DIME, and elements of the oak branch. A lesser spread also shows toward the center on ONE, UNITED STATES OF and E PLURIBUS. One of the hubbings was rotated CW on all the letters around the rim causing some of the letters to show tripling. Die Markers: Obverse: Type I. Three N/S die scratches above the 9 of the date. N/S die scratch below the 1 of the date. Two N/S die scratches behind the upper right side of the ear. Reverse: Trumpet tail mintmark. The reverse also has an RPM that is listed in the Wexler RPM Files as 1946-S 10¢ WRPM-001. It is an S/S/S/S Northwest, East, & Northeast. N/S die scratch through the first U of PLURIBUS. Die scratch NE from the right center of the D in UNITED to the rim. Die scratches NE from the E of ONE to the torch base. WNW/WSE die scratches through the NUM of UNUM.
