Description

A very close Class II spread towards the center shows on ONE DIME.Die Markers: Obverse: Type II. Many N/S die scratches around the head. Many E/W die scratches through IGWT. Crisscrossing die scratches in front of the mouth. Strong die scratch extends north from the 6 in the date. Strong die scratch in the upper opening of the B in LIBERTY parallel with the horizontal bar. Reverse: Die clash remnant through the olive branch. Many NE/SW die scratches throughout the reverse. Strongest scratches through the DIM in DIME and between the CA in AMERICA and the oak leaves. Submitted By: John A. WexlerCross References: None known Obverse Stage A: Type I. The obverse of this variety was produced from the doubled working hub identified as WWHO-001. Lathe marks at the rim and following the contour of the rim below the area of WE TRU of WE TRUST. Obverse Stage B: Lathe marks are weaker and can only be seen under WE. Obverse Stage C: Very faint lathe marks strongest at the E of WE. Die gouge below the G of GOD. Reverse Stage A: Die scratch NNE/SSW between the left upper and the upper olive leaves. Die crack beginning at the rim at 5:00 and running NNW through the I of DIME to the torch base. Reverse Stage B: Die scratch still present. Die crack runs through the torch base. Reverse Stage C: Stage A markers still present. Die crack is very strong and runs through the base and exits and runs to the B of PLURIBUS. A second crack intersects at the top of the I and runs to the oak stem.
