1944-D Doubled Die Reverse WDDR-009
Error
Description
A nice Class V CW spread from a pivot at about 3:00 shows on EPU, the dots, the lower left wheat stalk and stem, and the right wheat stem. Die Markers: Obverse Stage A: A short, nearly vertical die gouge can be found just to the right of the Y in LIBERTY. A die crack runs from NW to SE across the arm just below the shoulder. A die scratch runs from west to east through the upper hair below and to the right of WE. Obverse Stage B: Two parallel die cracks run from WSW to ENE through the lower back of the forehead and the hair NNE of the ear. Reverse Stage A: Two parallel die scratches run from west to east through the upper E in EPU. A somewhat rectangular die dent can be found above the right side of the upper left wheat ear. A die scratch runs ENE from the center horizontal bar of the E to the R in AMERICA. Reverse Stage B: LDS. Most markers are difficult to see or missing.
