Description
A Class IV spread to the south shows on the N of ONE, the CE of CENT, and the top of the T in UNITED. Die Markers: Obverse Stage A: The obverse of this variety is an RPM that is listed in the Wexler RPM Files as 1944-D 1¢ WRPM-015, a D/D Tilted (Rotated). A die scratch can be found above and between the 9 and the 4 of the date. A die scratch can be found above Lincoln’s ear. Slanted die scratches can be found to the right of Lincoln’s nose. Obverse Stage B: A die crack runs from SW to NE in the hair above Lincoln’s ear. Reverse Stage A: A die scratch runs parallel to the rim through thr upper E PLU of EPU. Reverse Stage B: A die scratch extends NW from the top right of the U in UNITED. A small die gouge (dot) can be found under the E of UNITED.
