ErrorDescription
Moderate extra thickness shows on E PLURIBUS UNUM and both wheat tips. Light separation lines show on many areas of the right wheat stalk. Die Markers: Obverse: The obverse is a doubled die listed in the Wexler files as 1940 1¢ WDDO-016. A light die crack runs along the tail of the 9 in the date. Worn vertical die scratches show below Lincoln’s chin. A short heavy die scratch runs south from the tip of Lincoln’s nose. A diagonal die crack runs through the VDB initials. Two worn about vertical die scratches show near the rim above the L in LIBERTY. A series of vertical die scratches show above the Y in LIBERTY. Worn horizontal die scratches run through GOD. Diagonal die gouges run through and in the field left of WE. Reverse: A vertical die scratch runs south from the lower right curve of the O in ONE. A light die scratch runs north from the lower curve of the C in CENT. An area of die deterioration shows between the N and E in CENT.
