=1923-D VAM-1BS Hooked Liberty Lip= Discovery 2010 by Jason Henrichsen, Revised 2014 1BS (revised) II1 - B2a (Hooked Liberty Lip) I-5 R-7 Obverse II1 - Multiple long horizontal die gouges and scratches on left field and face. Long horizontal die gouge from rim over to Liberty head upper lip and double lines bent upwards behind lip with striations in front pf lip. Long horizontal die scratch with double lines from rim above gouge over to nose, across neck and down to rear jaw-neck junction. Third single line die scratch from rim below L over thru eye to hair edge. Fourth die scratch from jaw-neck junction into hair and making sharp turn upwards and diagonally forward in hair. Heavy die file lines at rim from IN to 1. Die likely retired early. Reverse B2a - Die 1 - Die marker - Fine die crack thru IBU and eagle's head. Die 2 - Die marker - Polished lines left of D in DOLLAR. No die crack on eagle's neck. Comments: 1. Note - Reverse 1 is the earlier die state.
