Description

1922-P VAM-12A Moustache, Doubled Lower Reverse) This coin is a Top 50 Peace Dollar VAM '''12A''' (formerly VAM 2B) '''II 1 · B2h (Moustache, Doubled Lower Reverse) I-3 R-6''' '''Obverse II 1''' - Die break from nose to back of upper lip of Liberty head. '''Reverse B2h''' - Doubled lower reverse. '''Comments:''' '''1.''' Originally designated as a VAM-2B in the latest edition of the VAM Encyclopedia, the "Moustache" variety Peace Dollar has been redesignated as the VAM-12A. This was due to the reverse later being found to be the late die state of the VAM-12 doubled die. '''2.''' Beyond the most obvious attribution of the moustache die break , the VAM-12A obverse shows a die crack that runs from the top of the "G" down cross the "O" and into the "D" of "GOD". Other doubling is found on the eagle's leg feathers, the rays below them, and the rays above and belowthe word "ONE" on the coin's reverse.
