Description
=1921-P VAM-18 Dot Below Wing, Die File Lines Reverse= Discovered by Larry Briggs, July 2000. Revised 2005. Eliminated same as 9 18(revised) IV 1 · D2c (Dot Below Wing, Die File Lines Reverse) (189) I-4 R-6 Reverse D2c– Only one raised dot below eagle’s left wing shows. Heavy die file lines around left and right wreaths, olive leaves and eagle’s tail feathers. COMMENTS: Coin also shows obverse die file lines around the date and neck. Earlier die state without obverse die file lines and visible scribbles in all directions about the eagles right leg is 1921-P VAM-9. Also note: Another variety, the 1921-P VAM-3AW2, has a similar dot that is positioned just slightly lower. image:1921-P_VAM-18_Dot_Below_Wing_File_Lines.jpg Nice scribbling scratches, which are not very curvy and very related to the overall die polishing. Since this area may not have been singled out by the engravers, perhaps this one is not a "true" scribbling scratches variety: image:1921-P_VAM-18_scrib_scratches.jpg image:pjm1921vam18closeup1.JPG image:pjm1921vam18closeup2.JPG image:NESVT20101119_1921P_18_01.JPG image:NESVT20101119_1921P_18_02.JPG image:NESVT20101119_1921P_18_03.JPG image:NESVT20101119_1921P_18_04.JPG image:NESVT20101119_1921P_18_05.JPG image:NESVT20101119_1921P_18_06.JPG 1/2014
