Discovery September 2022, Dennis Halladay Revised July 2023, Tom Wethern, to absorb VAM 1L attributes IV 109 • D1a (Doubled Stars, Gouge in Leg Feathers) (?) Obverse IV 109 - All stars slightly doubled and tripled toward rim. ''Die Marker'' - Polishing lines inside Liberty's ear Reverse D1a - Short, thick die gouge through outer feathers at bottom of eagle's right leg. Faint scribbling scratches in overpolished area around eagle's right leg. Some die stages show die polishing lines in upper left reverse field. DPIS – In 1921 dates were part of the master die so there is no variation in position. ;Emission Sequence :Obverse: :Reverse: Comments: # Supersedes VAM 1L, although not all stages show die polishing in reverse field.
