=1882-O VAM-58 Doubled 82, Die Lines. O Tilted Left = Discovery 2022 by Brent Fogelberg/John Roberts 58 III2 42 - C3e (Doubled 82, Die Lines. O Tilted Left) (181) Obverse III2 42 - Doubled 82 with strong doubling on left outside of upper loop of 2 nd 8 and slighter doubling along top of digit. 2 doubled strongly on left outside of upper ball with slighter doubling along top. Point at bottom of digit shows a split serif. Very slight doubling seen inside top of upper loop of 1 st 8. Thin wedge shaped defect at upper right of shaft of 1 occurs on multiple dies. Specific obverse die has many lines scattered throughout portrait. Strong lines at various angles in gaps at ‘bearclaw’ formation in lower hair. A long line crosses the lower neck above the designer’s initial. Short line on cheek behind mouth. Several parallel lines pass thru the hanging curl on Liberty’s forehead. Several lines pass thru the Y of LIBERTY. Short but strong line at lower left edge of lowest cotton leaf. Formerly listed as VAM 39 before 2010 revision detailed a similar specific marriage. Reverse C3e - III O mint mark tilted left. It should be noted that the 1882-O VAM-19 and 1882-O VAM-19A share neither obverse nor reverse die (hence there is a revision/ delisting in the works).
