Description
=881-S VAM-48 Doubled 8-1= Discovered by Martin Field, March 1983. 48 III2 23- C3a (Doubled 8-1) (184) Obverse II2 23 - First 8 doubled on surface at lower right outside of upper loop and top inside of lower loop. Second 1 doubled slightly on left side of shaft. Reverse C3a- Medium Mint mark centered and upright. ;Emission Sequence :Obverse: 1881-S VAM-48, 1881-S VAM-14A, 1881-S VAM-64/29 :Reverse: Comments: # Note the die spikes in the upper loop of both 8s as is found in 1881-S VAM-1A. # The exact same obverse die was used to produce the 1881-S VAM-14A (& presumably the 14), 1881-S VAM-29, 1881-S VAM-48 & 1881-S VAM-64 (64 & 29 are the same pending review...).
