=1880-P VAM-68 Doubled 18, Cap Top, Gouges at Eagle's Neck= Discovered by Scott Hamilton, July 2011. Revised July 2024 68 III2 63- C3a (Doubled 18, Cap Top, Gouges at Eagle's Neck) (180) Obverse III2 63 - Doubled 1 below upper and lower crossbars and left 8 slightly at left inside and bottom outside of lower loop. Slightly doubled top of Phrygian cap. ''Die marker'' - Diagonal scratch at back of eye. Reverse C3a - Broad, shallow die gouges in field from edge of eagle's right wing to front of neck and from back of neck to edge of eagle's left wing. Gouges are most visible in early die state. ''Die marker'' - Diagonal die scratch at fourth inner feather from bottom of eagle's left wing. ;Emission Sequence :Obverse: :Reverse: Comments: # Gouge in field across eagle's neck most pronounced in early die stages, becoming less visible over time, especially on the left side.
