Description
=1880-P VAM-64 Doubled 80, Die Gouge Bow= Discovered by Scott Hamilton 2011. Revised 2015, Brent Fogelberg 64 (revised) III2 39 - C3a (Doubled 80, Die Gouge Bow) (179) Obverse III2 39 - Doubled 80 with right 8 at lower left outside of upper loop and 0 at top left inside and right inside. ''Die marker -'' Fine vertical short die scratch at bottom outside of eye. Reverse C3a - Broad die gouge at leaves to right of wreath bow. ;Emission Sequence :Obverse: :Reverse: Comments: # This exact obverse shared with 1880-P VAM-39, 1880-P VAM-39A, & 1880-P VAM-64. # The EDS does NOT have the die gouge bow. # The entire date is repunched at the very bottom. Discovery coin is EF45 and it is VERY difficult to see (hence it got missed in the official description). The repunching has worn away by the time the 1880-P VAM-39 & 1880-P VAM-39A were struck.
