Description
=1880-P VAM-45A Doubled Neck, Motto, and Date, Die Break Ear= Discovered by C. Logan McKechnie February 2007. Revised July 2024 45A III2 44 ∙ C3a (Doubled Neck, Motto & Date, Die Break Ear) Obverse III2 44 – Die break at top right outside of ear has progressed to a lump attached to the ear that is approximately as well defined as the hair strand ends. Vertical crack further behind ear establishing eventual boundary of later stage large break is well-defined. Later stages will show a full die break from the ear to this crack, a horizontal crack across the upper inside of the ear, as well as a radial die crack from the rim to the bottom left outside of the 0. Reverse C3a – Normal die ;Emission Sequence :Obverse: :Reverse: Comments: # If it has a radial die crack up thru left inside of 0 with displaced field break at top of 0 see 1880-P VAM-45B. # Later die state of 1880-P VAM-45.- Progression goes 45,45A,45B. # The ear break started before the date break.
