Description

=1880-P VAM-34 Doubled Date, Stars & Motto, Doubled Reverse= Discovered by Martin Field, October 1978. Revised 2010, 2011. 34(revised) III2 34 C3e (Doubled Date, Stars and Motto, Doubled Reverse) (180) Obverse III2 34 – Doubled date with 1 below upper and lower crossbars, left 8 on bottom left outside of lower loop, right 8 on lower left outside of upper loop, and 0 at lower left inside and outside. All stars and motto letters doubled at top towards rim. Some specimens show die chip between loop of left 8 on right side and radial die crack from denticles to lower right of left 8 similar to VAM-1A. ''Die marker'' - Long polishing line at top of top left cotton leaf. Reverse C3e – Doubled upper leaves of left and right wreaths towards rim. Slightly doubled bottom inside of UNITED STATES OF AMER towards rim. Slightly doubled tops of IN GOD WE. ''Die marker'' - Multiple short horizontal polishing lines at left side of upper tail feathers. ;Emission Sequence :Obverse: :Reverse: Comments: # Similar to 1880-P VAM-21 but different dies. A 2nd unlisted reverse was used on the later die states. My 1880-P VAM-34 with the radial die crack through the date it has a 2nd reverse. Before the radial crack appears there is a die chip in the G of GOD. On the LDS with the radial die crack does NOT have the die chip in the G of GOD. Though much later stages of the radial die crack another chip may form.
