Description
=1880-P VAM-29A 8/7 Checkmark, Doubled 80, Clashed Obverse n= Original VAM-29 discovered by Henry Dierkoph, October 1977. VAM-29A Discovery May 2008 by Joseph Wilson (AKA MitzyDog) "Eliminated, incorporated into VAM-29" This coin is a Hot 50 Morgan VAM. 29 III2 29 ∙ C3a (8/7 Checkmark, Doubled 80, Clashed Obverse n) (178) I-3 Obverse III2 29 – Doubled 80 in date and 8/7 check mark similar to VAM-16. Second 8 dbld on lower left outside of upper loop,o at top left and right outside but not as strong as VAM-16. Left 8 has die chip on upper left inside of lower loop. Remains of 7 shows on surface of left side of upper loop of second 8 in form of a check marker. Right side of check mark is more curved than VAM-16. Clashed die with partial incuse n of In from reverse showing next to Liberty head neck. Later die state than VAM-53A. Reverse C3a – Normal die, die scratch on wing. Comments: # This obverse appears on 1880-P VAM-53 and VAM-53A. # This reverse also appears on VAM's, 1880-P VAM-32, 1880-P VAM-32A, and 1880-P VAM-43.
