=1879-S VAM-48 Doubled Date, Tripled Stars & Motto= Discovered by Leroy Van Allen, February 2000. 48 III2 24 · C3a (Doubled Date, Tripled Stars & Motto) (185) I-3 R-5 Obverse III2 24 – Entire date is doubled. 1 slightly doubled below lower crossbar. 8 slightly doubled on lower left outside of upper and lower loops. 7 doubled at top of crossbar and slightly at bottom of stem. 9 doubled on left outside of upper loop and slightly on left outside of lower loop. All left and right stars slightly doubled to tripled towards rim. Tops of E PLURIBUS UM slightly doubled towards rim. Reverse C3a – Normal die of C3 type with medium IV S mint mark centered and upright. Comments: vam 48 most likely is the same listing as the vam 48A (before the beauty mark got noticed and listed which became VAM 48A) Top
