'''62 (revised) III2 2d · C3u (Doubled Profile, Engraved & Acid Treated Reverse, Over Polished Lower Reverse) (183) ''' '''Obverse III2 2d –''' Slightly doubled Liberty head profile including nose, lips, chin and upper neck. '''Reverse C3u –''' Severely over polished lower reverse with parts of wreath bow missing and some disconnected leaves in lower wreaths. Engraving on leaves opposite ON, U _NI in left wreath and R, CA, ER in right wreath. Some light acid treatment at NI, ER and middle of eagle's left wing. Die later polished again causing shallower lettering, tail feathers and some leaves and berries disconnected in wreaths. ;Emission Sequence :Obverse: :Reverse: '''Comments:''' # There were "thickness" issues reported by the Director of the San Francisco Mint in early 1879. To solve this, the Mint apparently planed down the reverse of several dies. Therefore this may be one of the first reverse dies used in the production of 1879-S coins, along with [[1879-S VAM-57. # Same obverse as [[1879-S VAM-34A. # The distinction between [[1879-S VAM-62 & [[1879-S VAM-62A is a bit dubious.
