=1879-P VAM-33.1 Doubled Date (Pitted Rev)= Discovered by Martin Field, March 1983. 33.1 III2 13 ∙ C3a (Doubled Date) (194) Obverse III2 31(VAM 33.1) – Doubled 8-9 in date. 8 doubled on left inside of upper loop. 9 doubled on left side outside of both loops. Reverse C3a(VAM-33.1) - Pitted die from rust in lower left wreath and above D of DOLLAR. Comments: # There are two die pairs that make up the 1879-P VAM-33 (1879-P VAM33.1 and 1879-P VAM-33.2) # EDS examples of the 1879-P VAM-33.1 do not have (much) pitting on the reverse.
