Description
=1878-P VAM-132 Missing Nostril (Skunk Cheek)= Discovered by Bill Fivaz, April 1973. Revised 2009. 132(revised) II3 - B2a (Missing Nostril) (180) Obverse II 3 - Same as II 2 but die has been over polished so that the nostril is missing. Different die than 1878-P VAM-190, but several dies exist. ''Die 1 marker''- Curvy die scratch at back of cap above ribbon and slightly doubled bottom of E. Reverse B2a - ''Die 1 marker-'' Fine horizontal polishing lines in wreath bow. DPIS – In 1878 dates were part of the master die so there is no variation in position. ;Emission Sequence :Obverse: :Reverse: Comments: # Coins with the missing nostril, broken 4th star point, and B2 doubled motto reverse are 1878-P VAM-190.
