=1878-P VAM-110 Broken N & M= Discovered by Leroy Van Allen, December 1965. Discovered August 2006 by Bill Fivaz 110 II/I 8 · B2a (Broken N & M) (180) Obverse II/I 8– Type II LIBERTY with thick letters. Doubled P-U-B on top left, second U on right and S at bottom of fully struck specimens. Partially broken bottom serifs of N & M in UNUM. Doubled left stars and 1, 3, 4 & 5 right stars. Doubled date with doubled 1 & 7 at top right, first 8 on surface of both loops, 7 at lower edge of crossbar and right 8 at bottom outside of lower loop on fully struck specimens. Reverse B2a– Shallow die gouge across eagle’s right leg. DPIS – In 1878 dates were part of the master die so there is no variation in position. ;Emission Sequence :Obverse: :Reverse: Comments: # One of six known listings with a broken N & M of UNUM, the others being 1878-P VAM-31, 1878-P VAM-40, 1878-P VAM-145, 1878-P VAM-162 and 1878-P VAM-200.
