Broken bottom serif of N and M. Bottom serif of M completely gone. Doubled star 3 left and star 5 right. 1 and 7 doubled on right side with 1 slanted to left. '''Reverse B2c''' - Reverse with broken 'R of TRUST in the reverse motto. '''DPIS – In 1878 dates were part of the master die so there is no variation in position. ;Emission Sequence :Obverse: :Reverse: '''Comments: # One of six known listings with a Broken N & M of UNUM, the others being [[1878-P VAM-31, [[1878-P VAM-40, [[1878-P VAM-110, [[1878-P VAM-145 and [[1878-P VAM-200. # The [[1878-P VAM-162 is recognized by PCGS. Note: obverse exhibits light obverse double clashing, which occurred when paired w/ VAM 145 reverse. Later die states of VAM 162 have a die polish line extending from the top right of the bow to the eagle's tail feathers. # The N & M in UNUM are both missing the serifs on the bottom of the letters. This is without doubt the key to this variety. # This is the only variety with the B2c reverse in the VAMs from 160 to 188.
