Scattered right polishing lines in lower fields. '''DPIS – In 1878 dates were part of the master die so there is no variation in position. ;Emission Sequence :Obverse: :Reverse: '''Comments: # On this variety second star to the right of the date is spectacularly tripled. The underlying star can be seen rotated clockwise several degrees. # The VAM-141 has the top of the O in GOD broken open on the reverse, unlike VAM-117 which has a complete O. # Although the Top 100 book claims they are both equally available and valuable, time has proven the VAM-117 to be much more elusive and worth an even bigger premium. If you are buying a VAM-117, check it closely as some coins slabbed VAM-117 actually have a broken O that can only be seen by close inspection and tilting the coin under good light.
