(1876) White Metal Token NY-NY 751, H.W. Hoops
Strike TypeCoin Details
Description
This white metal Centennial token (NY-NY 751) was issued by H.W. Hoops, an advertising token distributor of New York City. H.W. Hoops distributed five advertising token varieties during the Centennial year, including an unlisted Rulau variant of special collector interest. The unlisted variant suggests production records may not capture every combination. Hoops series includes a Rulau-unlisted white metal variant of special interest. The white metal composition made this the most economical version of this merchant's Centennial token. White metal tokens survive in the largest numbers because they were produced and distributed in enormous quantities. Lingg & Bro. supplied the majority of Centennial advertising tokens from their centrally located Philadelphia shop. The Fairmount Park grounds encompassed 285 acres of exhibition space where visitors could encounter the latest in industrial technology, fine arts, and manufactured goods from dozens of nations.
